Divers recover body of Sabah millionaire
KOTA KINABALU: The body of a Sabah millionaire who went missing while snorkelling in the Sulawesi Sea off Lahad Datu, has been recovered by marine police divers.

The team from Sandakan found 52-year-old Lam Yat Keong with his feet stuck between some corals on the seabed at a depth of about 31m off Pulau Baik at around 10.40am yesterday, nearly 48-hours after he went missing.

Snorkeling at 31 meters deep? Did his body get carried down to that depth to become stuck?

Arent they talking about meters off shore? not meters below the surface.

In the article it stated that he was seen calling for help from the surface but then disappeared... that would mean most likely he sank after having difficulty.. a previous condition referred to in the article along with doctors' recommendation to avoid strenuous swimming may have attributed to the accident.

Maybe, he was weighed down by all those millions?

Actually, the entire report is very misleading or not well reported. The article reports they anchored and four of Lam's friends when diving (assuming they were actually on scuba). He and Liew, a ten year-old, stayed on the boat. Lam is a professional diver and former national basketball player in the early 1970s but he has punctured lungs (??? don't they heal). Lam decides to go snorkeling and leaves a 10 year old on the boat?? Lam gets into trouble and yells "help" to the ten year old, Liew who puts on a life preserver to assist Lam (smart kid that one). However, Liew lost consciousness due to exhaustion, drifted off towards Pulau Baik together with the boat (I thought that was anchored ... guess not). Finally, Lam’s four friends, on emerging from their dive, swam towards Pulau Baik upon finding the boat missing. Exactly how far was Pulau Baik that the four divers emerge and can swim to; the boat and the unconsious 10 year can drift to. All this and Lam's body is found with his feet stuck between some corals on the seabed at a depth of about 31m off Pulau Baik.

BUT...."the police did not suspect foul play in the incident and have classified the case as sudden death due to misadventure." :280:

I will post further news if it does come up. Very often local reportings here are vague at best, and rarely there are any follow ups on the accidents after the initial report.

It says in the article that his puncutred lungs were from a motorcycle accident last year (could have been December for all we know). :eyebrow:
