This summer work may send me to Augsburg, Germany. I may be able to overstay a day or two. Is there any diving nearby I should look into? It is obviously far from the coast, but is there anything close I should try and visit?

Not in Augsburg, but nothing is far in Germany - especially if you're from Texas.

Last month I drove from Seattle to Fort Worth/Dallas by way of Los Angeles. It was around 2500 miles. Like most Texans a few hundred miles is nothing to me, but since this is work, I'll be on a tight schedule. I may only get to find out what I would want to see on a return non-work visit.

I checked on the German version of Scubaboard www.taucher.net. There is a lake close to Augsburg, called Ilsesee. There are certain restrictions on when you can dive there. You might want to check with the local dive club .
