Im going to freeport in june diving with gbs. I will be with 3 non divers. How is xanadu beach. Is freeport safe? anybody stayed at the oasis? Thanks. jcjcccac@aol.com

Freeport at least use to be fairly safe, but I would not go wondering around late at night. If you are talking about Xanadu hotel, I don't care for it due to it's location. GBI has 2 major areas, one around Port Lucaya and the other around the International Bazzar. That's where most of the restaurants are. Xanadu is located several miles away from either of these 2 areas so you have to take a taxi, which can get expensive or rent a car, they drive on the left....scares the dickens out of me so that's out for me, if you want to eat anywhere other than the hotel rest. The beach itself is nice and there use to be some pretty good snorkling there....if you know how to find it. Be happy to give you some hints if you like. I have not heard of the Oasis. I do however like the dive operation at Xanadu, that's who I usally use, but it has been a couple of years since I was there.
