Long Beach - June 10 - Ideas?

Time sensitive posting:

I will be in Long Beach for the weekend, June 10 - 12, 2005. I am planning on driving down Thursday, and I am thinking about diving on Friday June 10th 2005 if I can. I would prefer a boat dive, but I don't know much (anything?) about dive boats in the vicinity. Any Long Beach locals have any suggestions?

I have heard about the following dive boats:
- Great Escape
- Bottom Scratcher
- Island Time

I would just be looking for a half day of diving on Friday June 10th.

Anyone in the Long Beach area have recommendations? Anyone looking for an excuse to go dive Friday and willing to act as a local guide?

I was certified in Monterey, so I can handle the cold temps. (you don't need to warn me about cold water or kelp -*smiling*- ) I have everything necessary to dive, and could bring everything if needed.

I know that it is rather short notice, and the boats may all be full, but since I am driving down there anyway, what the heck!!

FYI, Saturday June 11th is ScubaBoard SoCal's monthly dive get together. It will be in Laguna Beach.

If you are open to doing any shore diving, I have Friday off and would be up for some diving in Laguna Beach.

Not too may boats run on the weekdays. If they run on Friday, it is usally a 3 day trip. Best bet is the 6 pax that run out of Long Beach.

The Sundiver (800) 555-9446 has an open boat on 6/10 doing costal dives.
Island Time ahs 1/2 day boats and is well run and my destination for the next two Saturdays. Friday th 10th is OPEN Boat www.expressdivers.com. (866) 488-3483
Spectre in Ventura is doing 3/4 Day Open Boat on the 10th to Anacapa (805) 483-6612.

I can recommend the Great Escape and the Island Time.

Since I am Diving on Island Diver on the 11th, and I have military duty the week following, I am positive I will not be able to get a Friday dive past the wife. Otherwise I would be there in the water for you.

you should have no problem booking the peace or spectre out of ventura on friday. its probably a 90minute drive from long beach though; they are both great boats and you would have a great time.. good price too

or, you can just drive to ventura thursday night & stay on the boat

might be to take the ferry fromLong Beach to Catalina, the 2 dive shops over there should have their boats going out for some diving, and if nothing else you can always dive Casino Point.

I need to be back in Long Beach Friday evening, would that be doable with the Ferry to Catalina? I am not averse to getting up early if I need to, but I would prefer not to have to drive too far (especially for the return).

Any good links for the ferry in Long Beach? (yeah, I know search for it!) Just trying to get the insiders' tips.

Either of the dive shops in Catalina better than the other?

I will check into the 6 packs in Long Beach.

Wristshot, I have not been on the Board for a couple of days. Yes it is possible to be back in Long Beach by evening.

As far as the dive ops over there, I have only used CDS and have been satisified with them. Don't know about the other
