    Port visits in Australia

    Hello,
U.S. sailor with 3 port calls in Australia in the next 30 days. We are planning on stopping in Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide. I just want to know how the prices are for dives, shore or boat is fine. Each visit will be 4 days, with at least one day of work on the ship (duty days). There will be 1 to 4 divers, 2 of us have our own gear. I am diving a PB/W and long hose and I have doubles regs but no doubles wing, every one else dives regular gear. What is the availability of 300bar DIN? Should I get an adapter? Also 2 of us are AOW, I have doubles dives, one is an instructor for PADI and the 4th is OW. I’m looking forward to diving.
    Thanks
    Willie

yes to an adapter.... you will find Sydney dive shops hire out yoke tanks here

and expect fills of about 220bar only and check your tank before you leave the shop to make sure you get at least this

    sydney shops to try:

    Abyss http://www.abyss.com.au/
    Sydney Dive Academy http://www.sydneydive.com.au/
    Shiprock Dive http://www.shiprockdive.com.au/viewpage.php?page_id=3

    sydney shore sites to dive:
    Bare Island
    Kurnell

i dont do boats so cant comment too much but i do know that Frogdive (www.frogdive.com.au) run a boat each weekend and Abyss does the Grey Nurse Shark dives at Maroubra so you can contact them direct to ask

    cheers & hope this helps

I spoke (via email) about an adapter, somthing i have been meaning to add to the kit for a while now. I hate using one, but I have found so many places that either have no DIN tanks, and or can't fill em.

Most Dive of the better dive shops in the ports you are visiting will hire DIN tanks, we are not that backward down here.

LOL, it is just that I have seen some funny stuff. Like a 15 year old trying to pump a set of doubles in Saipan... He swore he had done it like a hundred times. Finally got him talked out of the task about 45 min into it, we almost had to leave the shop cuz we didnt want to help clean him off the walls.
