The first sighting of Migaloo in Queensland last year was off the Gold Coast on July 1st last year.
For anyone who has seen this magestic animal in the flesh would state that it is a truely amazing experience.
This year however closes the opportunity for this to ever again happen in our lifetime with new legislation being introduced stating that no boat can be brought closer than 500 metres or fly an aircraft clser tan 2000ft without written permission as migaloo has been declared a " special interest " whale.
T.V and newspapers now appear to be the only source to witness this spectacular animal.
Minke permits have provided us water junkies with some special privilages over the years.
Totally agree. Having been lucky enough to see Migaloo and to dive with Minkes it is a shame. I just hope the whaling ban gets pushed through and they keep them away from our waters.
Migaloo is predicted to be up here in Cairns in the next 2 weeks, and we have been having some good whale sightlings, so if anyone is on the east coast between Gold Coast and Cairns not a bad time to do some whale watching.
