Melbourne and Brisbane - interested in shark diving

    Hiya,

I am going to be spending a few days in Melbourne and a few in Brisbane over the next month and am obviously keen to do some diving! Can anyone recommend any good dive centres in these regions? I am always keen to do some shark diving - are there any sites near either of these cities to get some face time with sharks? I'm doing some internet research but thought it was worth a post on here too :-)

    Thanks!

    Caz

    Hi Caz,

Melbourne and Brisbane are probably a bit far from established shark diving areas. However, here are some suggestions:

Grey Nurse Sharks (NSW) - the following is a selection of dive centres offer diving with this species of shark - Home - Fish Rock Dive Centre at South West Rocks, Discount Scuba Gear, PADI SCUBA Dive Courses and Scuba Diving at Coffs Harbour's Solitary Islands, Northern NSW- Australia Scuba Gear and Dive Equipment Jetty Dive, NSW Australia, Welcome - Sundive Scuba Diving Dive Byron Bay and Dive Sites | Dive Forster at Fisherman's Wharf | Rated in the top ten dive sites in the World. All of these centres are south of Brisbane. South West Rocks which is probably the best known location for GNS is 500 km from Brisbane.

Various reef sharks (Far North QLD) - sharks are common sightings on dives. Some operators will offer specialized charters, e.g. Special Expeditions | Minke Whale Trip Scuba Dive Cairns Australia.

Great White Sharks (South Australia) - Top 10 Things to Do - Shark Cage Diving - South Australia - South Australia. A brilliant blend.. While this destination is well away from where you will be, it is worth mentioning.

If you are not fussy about diving in open water, then the aquarium in Melbourne offers dives with its collection - Melbourne Aquarium - Shark Dives.
