Yes, technically, you can drink the water. However, you have to remember that it is not a big island and it doesn't have mountains and, therefore, the water is sort of filtered through what little soil and sand there is . . . and has been for thousands of years. (In other words, it tasted a bit salty to me but it is not technically dangerous to drink the water provided in restaurants or in the ice. )

I woud suggest that, for the sake of keeping your body from rebelling at the thought of traveling, you stick to bottled water, though.

The issue with the copies of your passports is that, should your luggage go west as you go southeast, you could find things getting more than a bit sticky as you try to get back into the US . . . and, very possible, as you try to get into the Bahamas. It could seriously impact the pleasure of the honeymoon to spend it in the airport customs lounge waiting for copies of your passport(s) to be faxed to you from someone. (Oh, yeah, almost forgot, as a safety precaution, leave a copy with someone you know and trust. )
