I am planning a trip to Freeport in October. I know the hotel I am planning to stay at, Wyndham Fortuna Beach, has a dive shop called Viva dive Bahamas. I am debating where to dive with them or Unexso in Freeport. Does anyone have any thoughts of them both or any other dive shops?

If you are staying at the Wyndham, it's hard to go wrong with the in-house dive shop. The prices are reasonable (and in fact cheaper than other ops when I was there), their boat picks you up from the Wyndham's beach, and most if not all the dive sites (including shark alley) are right off the beach. I haven't tried any of the other shops but I would highly recommend the Viva.

I have dived out of UNEXSO many times and always had a good time... however, try both!

Just got back from Freeport. Dove with Caribbean Divers. They were the dive shop the resort used and a 10 dive package cost $70 less when arranging it through the resort vs direct and much less than Sunn and UNEXSO. They picked me up by car @ the Taino Beach Resort lobby and dropped me off on a dock in the channel right next to the resort when done. They were super accommodating of my 11 year old JR open water diver on his first real dives. They offer 2 tank afternoon dives that are within the JOW limits.
