Earlier this year I returned from the Mexican Yucatan where I dove numerous Cenotes south of Playa del Carmen.

Inasmuch as I live in the Florida Keys and for reasons of proximity and variety, I am interested in flying to Abaco (s) , Bahamas to dive the Caverns there.

It's a very quick flight from either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami to Marsh Island Airport.

I'm trying to find out what the temp. might be at say 50 ft. or so and what the general water conditions are like in December.

i seem to have read that Abaco (s) has some spectacular caverns and is very easy to get to.

However, if anyone knows of other locations in the Bahamas that are easy to get to and are nearby decent accommodations , I'd be most appreciative to hear about them.

Thanks in advance.

B.T.W. is it "Abaco Island" or "Abacos Island"?

It's "The Abacos", used to denote a group of islands, including Greater Abaco and Little Abaco, among many others, inhabited and uninhabited.

The Abaco Islands lie in the northern Bahamas and comprise the main islands of Great Abaco and Little Abaco, together with the smaller Elbow Cay, Lubbers Quarters Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Great Guana Cay, Castaway Cay, Man-o-War Cay, Stranger's Cay, Umbrella Cay, Walker's Cay, Little Grand Cay, and Moore's Island.

See if Small Hope Bay Lodge on Andros has what you're looking for also. http://www.smallhope.com
The variety of dives on our regular schedule includes shallow reefs, coral gardens, wrecks, walls, false walls, caverns, and blue holes, as well as a shark observation dive.
