Anyone been diving in Panama???

I'm heading down there on business in a few weeks. I'm planning on making a few dives. Can anyone recommend some guided dive tours, or sites? or recommend which to avoid?

Also, what are some of the highlights/low lights?
How about renting a car? I'm debating this...

I'll be staying in a hotel in Panama City.

My wife and I were in Panama in late March/early April of this year. We dove with Panama Divers. The owner, Clay Jorgenson, was our guide and he was tremendous. We dove out of Portobelo, but they run boats and tours on both the Caribbean and Pacific, and will work with you to arrange what you're interested in. I recommend them highly.

We also dove Escribano Reef, near the San Blas Islands. The reefs are largely unexplored and it is really only just now becoming a dive destination. If you like being one of the first people to ever dive a site, this is the place (they even named a dive site after us, since we were the first ones on it!). While we were in Panama we stayed both in Panama City and at Coral Lodge, an incredible new resort in Colon province, near Santa Isabel. It's reachable only by boat, and we dove on the way out. Clay picked us up in Panama City and drove us to the boat in Portobelo, so we didn't need to rent a car. The driving seemed a bit, um, energetic, I think I'd recommend taxi's. Enjoy your trip.
