Clean Slate

was wondering if anyone knows of a way to clean an old slate?

i bought a couple of 2nd hand ones and found them to be off-white as well as still having a lot of pencil marks on them...

any suggestions?

AFTA adhesive cleaner worked especially well for me, with just a cloth. However, something I think would certainly get it off would be a piece of steel wool, with nothing more than water and a little bit of elbow grease :14:
