Anyone know why the Supermask has a tilt-to-purge valve? I've never seen this kind of valve before (you have to manipulate a plastic switch to cause the mask to vent through the purge valve).

Anyone know how hard this would be to convert back to a standard purge?

Most REAL full face masks that were designed as such have an exhaust valve at the base of the mask. This also hods true for diving helmets and it is because water will seek the lowest point. It is asumed that the diver will assuse a verticle position when having to purge water out of the mask/helmet. With a FFM or helmet water will collect in the bottom below the inlet of the demand regulator and would be hard to purge. The reg. opening in most is also raised in relation to the inside of most FFM causing a dam effect which also makes it hard to purge water out the regulator exhaust valve.

Why KM went with a spring loaded tilt vale is a mystery to me to. Try asking them kmdsi@kirbymorgan.com
