Place: White Point County Beach (Issei Cove area)
Date: Saturday September 23, 2006
Time: Gather at 7:30 AM and prepare to Splash between 8 and 8:30 AM

Objective: clean Issei Cove, dive safely, enjoy the hot water vents and sea life there and HAVE FUN!!!! That’s what Paul was all about!

Bring a mesh goodie bag for any trash you find UW, a float and flag if you have them. Be sure to wear gloves to avoid any cuts. Also, bring a dive buddy to share this experience with!

Pot luck BBQ afterward at the Royal Palms section of the Whites Point park – bring some food to share and beverages of your choice. Evil Jeff has donated the traveling Reel of Doom to be awarded annually to divers who bring up the item that most inspires the phrase "Sheesh”. Max Bottomtime is donating an autographed copy of Bob Talbot's Whales and Dolphins video. Remember, this is for Paul and FUN!

This dive is in memory of Mr. Paul Meister who, for over 40 years, monitored the environmental health of this cove. Elaine Jobin has prepared some excellent background information on Paul and has posted it on diver.net We hope to have at least 20 divers participating this year. Dodi Meister will be in attendance as well as other special guests.

Thanks go to Eric Frasco and the Greater Los Angeles Council of Divers (GLACD) for working through the permit process with Los Angeles County. If you aren’t a member of GLACD, this is just one reason to join this excellent organization.

Bring your C-Card and the (completed) waiver which will be posted here later this week. Show the waiver and C-Card to the parking attendant at the top of the hill and tell them you are participating in the underwater clean-up. We are still finalizing parking details, but we expect parking will be free, compliments of Supervisor Knabe’s office.
