I am finally taking a vacation! Yes a vacation! and I am going to Cancun. I have heard alot of buzz about the "Cenotes" and have looked up just about all I need to know about them BUT, I still don't know which dive outfit is the best in the area and which Cenote I should dive......any tips? Advice? Recommendations?

go to Loco Gringo.com
they have TONS of info IF you can't get it here... i'll be there this May!!!!
check out the Mexico section on this site, too (and Cozumel , you'll be a short ferry ride from there, worth at least one day diving)

Congrats on your vacation trip. Are you required to be cave certified to dive cenotes? Is it a good idea to have that training or are the cenotes totally different?

Thanks,

TOM

training is good.... from what i understand you can do "cavern" dives but not "cave " dives unless cert'd

Scuba Cancun is a wonderful dive operation. They do day trips to Cozumel and the cenotes. You do not cave certification to dive the cenotes with them. They are defined as being caverns, not caves.

Have fun!

ben@mayanaquadive:
hey bud, check out www.mayanaquadive.com, its cancuns newest dive center and very professional, personal service, offer great cenote trips too, away from the normal cattle market operators, you should be able to find all the info you need there, run by a britsih guy, very expericened. more info write to benrmooney@yahoo.co.uk.
If you do say so yourself.

I really like Yucatek Divers (http://www.yucatek-divers.com/english.html ) in Playa Del Carmen. They are very professional, speak perfect English (along with about 5 other languages), and tend to dive in very small numbers with lots of personal attention. It is owned by a German lady named Yolanda who also owns a hotel called Paraiso Azul's Hotel Casa de Gopala ( http://www.casadegopala.com/ )which is clean and very reasonable. I am going this summer just for the Cenote diving and can’t wait!

Hey evryone, Thanks for the info.....I appreciate all your suggestions and will loook into all of them, feel free to keep the info comin'.
