PADI allows one to forgo the swimming if they can demonstrate snorkel/mask/fin swim for 300 yards. In my opinion, this is dangerous. What is your opinion.

So, how many polls are you going to make? Every time I click on this forum you've made another. :p

I figure, if it detract the old geezers from squabbling their point on useful thread, it will be worth it. Can't argue with em geezers.

I did have to swim to get my OW cert.

Next pol will be: "Do you have a useful ScubaBoard Profile"

I don't think you should have to get wet even when you dive!

Of course it will be a while before I can get a dry suit and make that happen.

I think it should be required. It isn't the most important skill used in scuba diving, but it might make some people, who can't swim for whatever reason, reconsider if they are ready to dive. This would be more of a prerequisite, rather than a skill necessary for diving. Of course, I would except handicapped candidates, especially blind ones. :D

Swimming whats that?
