What is your favorite, diving related, book (fiction or non) and/or movie.
Since I have almost no diving experience I am reading and watching anything and everything I can get my hands on to feed my growing obsession with your sport.
The Deep is right up there on my list of favorite diving movies. For books, I can't think of favorite diving fiction, but I have a bookshelf full of good diving non-fiction.
Well, maybe except for fun. Keep in mind, my word choice reflects only my thoughts and opinions and I don't see any reason to not have fun just because something is serious.
Ok, I know I'll catch hell for this...but I did enjoy watching Jessica Alba and friends in Into the Blue -- the treasure hunting story was of course far-fetched but the flick did spend quite a bit of time spent under the water.
go ahead, remind that it's impossible to breathe directly off an AL80 and swim through a sunken cocaine-filled plane...but I still enjoyed it in the theatre
One of my favorite books is "SEA SALT" by Stan Waterman, Stan is a famous underwater photographer and is into his 80's, he is still diving and he tells stories about his life and diving all over the world. Previously mentioned is the movie "the Deep", Stan was one of those who filmed the movie. At this years Our World Underwater (Chicago)Stan autographed his book for me.
I like all the Clive Cussler books, I've read them all.
The Deep was one of the first books I ever read as a "wee lad" (had to graduate from MAD Magazine sometime) and then I saw the movie...so they hold a place near and dear!
DO a search, there are plenty of threads on the subject!
