It just so happens that there are a limited number of spots
available for the upcoming three day liveboard trip on the
"Great Escape" departing Long Beach's Queen's Wharf
located at Berth 55 (EZ freeway access). Our destinations
for that weekend... the Southern Channel Islands. We will
depart shortly after midnight early Friday the 4th (that's late
Thursday evening) and returning to the dock around 6 pm on
Sunday the 6th.

This all inclusive dive excursion is a limited load trip.

Not sure for certain where we will be going, but these
extended trips usually offer the best chance for the more
remote sites and better conditions since our travel and
dive time tables are much more flexible. The plan is to
dive the islands of Santa Barbara and San Clemente.
Of course, if the opportunity arises we will extend the
destination list, so Cortez Banks among others are also
a possibility.

For those of you who have never dove the more offshore
sites of the SoCal offshore coast, we are relagated by
the top and bottom conditions at the time in our site
selections, but be assurred we will seek out the best
diving available as we always do.

"Bill-N-Da-Galley" will have some culinary suprises for
us, so plan on gaining weight - or not. The GE is quickly
becoming known regionally for it's cuisine as well as it's
already well earned reputation for comfort and diving offered.
Vegetarians and are also taken care of in their dietary needs.
If you require other special needs, just let the charter
master know when you call.

As most of us have been witnessing these past weeks, the
conditions continue to improve. The vis this past weekend at
San Clemente Isle was between 50 and 60', Believe it or not,
this should improve to the 80+ vis typical for this time of
year at that island.

The weekend of the 4th should be a great one for diving.
So no matter where you plan to dive that weekend, things
should be great, but even better "out there". Recently diver's
have been seeing seals, giant black sea bass, seals, mola
molas (giant sunfish), seals, dorado (yes, dorado!), seals,
yellowtail, seals, and the ever-elusive-to-divers-lately white
sea bass. Some seals have been reported here and there too.
The GE is photo/video, site seeing and hunter friendly. We
enjoy they ability to accomodate all types of divers and their
desires to the best of our abilities.

If you want more information on the trip, click on over
to www.diveboat.com and select the "Calendar of Dive
Trips" link near the top right of the page. Here you will find all
the information on the boat, the charter master, and how to
book the trip.

If you decide not to join us, we hope you and your
family get in the water that weekend somewhere and
enjoy yourself. This will be a weekend for family time
and patriotic pride, so participate well... we will.

Don't make any of us feel bad becasue what we are going to be doing or anything LOL
We typically try NOT to go places the same time "everybody" else does. It's to crazy and both my wife and I have found we don't enjoy the time away. Because its not, away.....

Have fun on your trip tleemay! :)

What will I be doing the weekend of July 4th?

Diving! Of course!

I had a chance to hop on board at night while it was docked next to the Bottom Scratcher (The boat I was on) as there were quite a few of the passingers having a party on board. Looks like a great boat. I'd imagine after ITC is over and "free" time actually exists, I'll have to take a trip on the GE. I visited GE's website that you posted, looks great. It's definately on the "Must do" list.

I'm going to be using alcohol to make myself unavailable for overtime if called...

"Sorry boss, I've had a few too many to drink. I don't think I'll be able to come in".

One of my dive buddies has a side business handling fireworks shows. He's got all the required licenses.

A buddy of his is handling one of the local displays.

I'm helping to wire the pyro in exchange for prime seating at the event. I'll be sitting next to the main control board with my wife.

Finally, one of the skills I learned in the Army is paying off.

I'm relaxing on Saturday and doing a refresher on Sunday.

I'm going to be up at dutch springs becoming a PADI advanced open water diver! WHOOPEE!:dazzle:

Debbielou and I will be at Dutch Springs too!
