Boats are the only thing I can think of. Was it a low reverberating rrrr or a high pitched clicking noise?

In the ocean they have pistol shrimp which is the reason why you hear a lot of clicking in the water. But I don't think there are any freshwater varieties known to exist.

Electric trolling motor on a boat for the first one. Larger engine and prop for the second one.
You can test the tanks you breathe or - dive on hope.
    Testing is safer...

Great news for vacation divers who cannot talk themselves into buying a personal CO tank tester!

Yeah it's just the air we breath - at depth!

Switching from AL80s to LP72s was a weird experience for me.

I never noticed it with AL80s, but with LP72s, you can hear the air in the tanks expanding and filling the voids when you breathe. Weird sound.

If the water is used for drinking, the water company sometime has aerators.

It is easy to discern a 2 or 4 stroke boat motor. It is very distinctive. An electric motor would be seen.

Just in case, try filling the bath tub. Then stick your head in the water to see if it is something wrong in your head.

Some hear popping/clicking noises in the ocean from snapping shrimp. Or their sinuses/ears when surfacing.

Clicking noise...that could very well be the sonar function of the fish/depth finder. They work on sound it emits and used the return to determine time taken and provide depth information. The sound tend to be ressemble somewhat a tic tic sound.
