Dropped tank with hog cold water first stage attached
The tank slid out of a buddies truck, right after a dive we had a shirt drive so we decided to keep everything hooked up! Big mistake, he didn't look he just opened the tailgate and the tank slid out and landed at a 45" angle on the first stage, the DIN to yolk adaptor is bent but first stage and everything else looks ok! What damage could have occurred?and how hard is it to bend a din to yolk adaptor?
I'd take it to the shop, rather than count on online help. Without photos, no one can really make a judgement. And even if things look okay, it's not a bad idea to have it taken apart and made sure it really is working properly. You don't want to find that out underwater.
Lesson learned, I guess, about transporting scuba equipment. You might just be out the cost of a DIN to yoke adapter, but have it checked anyway.
I'm assuming it landed on the first stage and not the yoke adapter. It would be best to get an in-person opinion at the shop (ask the tech, not the sales rep) for all pieces of gear involved. We honestly can't tell you, even with pictures it wouldn't be a definite thing.
Next time secure everything in the trunk bed. Don't let things roll around.
I'll leave the expert analysis to . . . the experts, but I guess when it comes to bent metal things, I think about a coat hanger. As soon as you bend it far enough one way, it seems as though the metal weakens; bending it back the other way only seems to weaken it more.
I would need to see pics and have a little better description. Is the adapter bent or the screw on the adapter? Is the yoke itself damaged? Have you taken the reg off of the adapter and tried to screw it into a DIN tank? If it goes on smoothly does it seal when you slightly open the valve? Those would be the first things I would check.
Then I would check the torque on the DIN connection itself and inspect that. Is it loose? If not is there a tank you could put it on and pressurize it and put it in a large tub of water to check for bubbles? All of these is what I'd want to do. If the adapter or the screw for it is bent I'm going to say chuck it and get a new one. Don't mess with it. Metal fatigue, as ibj40 says, is a real issue and not one I'd take chances with.

Generally all it takes is a fall from about 3.2 feet at a speed of 22 miles per hour.
The DIN to yuk adapter is toast. Your first stage gets serviced now even if does not need it. When you try to break things then you get to pay to have them looked at!
Service prices are stupid. Scubatoys is about as cheap as it gets.
Yupp I realize stupid move! Thanks for the reassurance on that one!
The yok adapter is toast I know that, I was just wondering about the possible damage inside the first stage, nothing to really take pics of there is just a small scratch on the top of the enviro seal on the hog d1 first stage everything else seems normal! Can't pressurize it, no adapter and no din tanks, I am taking it in to the tech on Tuesday, I will not use the reg till then, not looking for criticism just some advice on the damage inside, I am not a reg tec and don't know how tough first stages are what could be damaged and what could stand a beating that's all I was asking!
You are not the first one to bend a yoke by dropping a set up tank - I have seen a few and chances are the reg is just fine - get a new yoke and you should be good to go.
