This is one I should of remembered but can't. Is there a normal side your your pressure/depth gauge to hang on? Is it your right or left or is it just personal preference. Thanks

It normally goes on the left.

It depends. I have a big console which I clip across my chest to the right side. Keeps it handy, not dangling, and good location for compass use as well. Whatever works.

I also have a big console and it is mounted on the right side of my BCD on a retractable clip for easy access. My setup is second stage and computer on the right, and inflator and octo on the left. Just my personal preference. It's really whatever works best for you. I have a dive buddy who's a lefty and his setup is the opposite of mine. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Viewing your whole BC/tank setup from the back: As a norm, your inflator hose, drysuit hose, and Gauge hose will trail from the left ports in your first stage. Regulator hoses from the right.
Gauges can mount anywhere on your chest or side wherever is your personal preference.

When you say across your chest, do you mean, hose stretches from the left to the right? If so wouldn't this make a rescuer stripping your gear take longer?

I guess so. To be honest, I never thought of that. But it seems to be a simple step to pull it out of the clip. Though the clip is to a D ring on the right side, the console winds up pretty much in the middle. I like it there because it is located where I can use the console compass without even unclipping it. 95% of my dives are solo anyway.
