495 feet, but everyone here already knows I'm crazy. LOL

My average dive is normally around 130 to 220.

Hey Curt, quick question for you. HOw deep have you taken a camera or video? Which ones?
Would be interesting to know how they react to deep depths.

The deepest I have ever been was a 200 bounce dive in Florida to earn a "deep diver" patch and certificate from a NASDS shop in 1972. I swam down a rope to pull a flag off at 200ft. ....... had a safety diver at 50ft. and another at 100ft (this was a very planned dive).
    ~150m (~500 fsw)

It was a reasearch dive on a wall.. Bottom time 10 minutes, deco time... way too long..

Lots of dives in the 100m to 125m range (330-400 fsw)

most dives though are probably 40m-60m (130-200 fsw)

The deepest I usually will solo is about 60m

Cayman has a nice tunnel that starts about 60fsw-70fsw and comes out around 270, although they don't bring regular groups there(its not a moored site)... The tunnel can actually be reached by swimming out from one of their normal second (shallow) dives..

I sure don't make any attempt to squeeze a good deep dive into anykind of no-stop limits.

In recreational gear (a single tank) I don't care to dive much past 80 ft or so. That's not an absolute of course but if I'm planning a deep dive I dress for it.
OK i should have phrased it better. Training dives have a purpose as do practice dives and build up dives where depth maybe essential for the drills or skill practice required.

"just for the sake of it" i was thinking of someone with no goal or any particular point just going down to say 170ft to see nothing at all when they could do the same in 80ft.

And just how deep was the bottom?????????? I have been to 160 ft on air and it was stupid but followed the DM's plan with the rest of the group. Wouldnt do it again though as my high pressure hose blew. No problem with air we shared air on the way back up. came back up slow and finished the dive at 45 minutes with air to spare. Its just a good thing i didnt panic, it could of been a disaster. One reason I would never dive alone. NEVER!!

I've been to 130ft while diving the Canyon in Jamaica. Went down there because I wanted to see what was there. I had seen ripples in the sand from tide action at shallow depths, but had no idea that I would see them at that depth. It was really cool.

My quarry diving usually takes me to 115ft at least once per trip. Some cool things to dive through at Mermet at that depth.
