Easier way to get my bleepin' Wetsuit on :) ?

Hi,

My wife and I tried on our Wetsuits for the first time last weekend. She got a charlie horse 3 times and I swore that I'd start working out more with weights.

Question: Is there an easier way to get these !@#$ things on :06:

I've read the following. Can you tell me which one worked best for you and recommend any solutions not listed that worked for you?

-Pantyhose
-leaving socks on so that feet can slip through easily
-putting plastic bags over your feet to get them through easilly
-talc
-mixture of 1/3 hair conditioner, 2/3 water sprayed on the tough areas of the suit
-soap applied to problem areas of skin and suit

I believe that we have the best sizes. I know that they're supposed to be tight, but not so tight that you can't take a full and comfortable breathe. We can breathe fine in them. It's just the 8-10 minutes to get them on that's taxing my patience.

Thankee....

How thick are your wetsuits? If they are thick you can buy a lycra tropical rashguard type suit that you can wear underneath. They are easy to get into and they make getting into a neoprene suit so easy. If the wetsuits are thin and you find it so difficult then maybe you have the wrong size.

I had the same problem with my 7mm. I never did find anything that worked really well, it just got better with use... but I'm telling ya... it sure was a pain in teh butt for awhile, almost wasn't worth the hassle that it took to get it on! ( :11: I know! It was that bad!) Once it was all on and situated, it was fine... let me know what you find out.. I'm thinking about buying another one here sometime soon.. and I will be looking on advice on how to break the bugger in a little easier then last time! azzler1:

I have always used a pair of socks to slide my feet through.

You could also try getting a dive skin as mentioned above.

You may want to try a looser suit, even if rented and decide if the hassel of fighting a tight suit is worth the extra warmth or not.

My system...

Wear a Lycra suit underneath, as suggested. Most importantly, you simply can't "pull" a wetsuit on easily, but you can "roll" a wetsuit on without much trouble. Make sure you turn the legs and arms nearly inside out, leaving only about 3 inches of cuff. Situate these last 3 inches correctly on your ankles and wrists, and roll the rest of the leg/arm into place. Works like a charm!

Good Luck!

Talc, and lots of it! Big squeeze down each arm and leg.

I swear by the pantyhose, get your wife to try it. You might want to try a lycra dive skin.

Put it on in the reverse way you took it off. Assuming you "peel" it off and end up with it inside-out, start with it inside out and (feet first) un-peel it back on. Its totally easier and stresses the suit a lot less. Why don't more people do this?

That's the easiest way I've found, Evad. Putting plastic grocery bags over your feet works well too, as long as it's a thicker type of plastic bag (not the ones that your fruits and veggies go into).

You'd think they'd be manufacturing special footbags for that. They manufacture everything else. And people buy it.
