Men are like a fine wine. They start out as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the crap out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
I'm looking into doing a week in Honduras at this resort. Has anyone been there? I would love some feedback before I book it.
My wife & I did our initial OW training there. It was a fun place. Food was OK.
People were very nice. We had Sean Bodin as our instructor to ourselves a good part of the week. He was great.
Since we were learning, we didn't do all the boat trips that everyone else there was doing, but they all seemed pretty happy about the experience.
We (my dive-buddy/wife) messed up and filled in Skin Diver instead of Scuba and got the wrong cert from NAUI. The owners of the resort were great in getting it resolved with NAUI.
You are pretty close to the town but not in it, just a taxi ride away (negotiate taxi fares)
Very few people used the beach. I think this is true around the island due to sand flies. I did however, get some hammock time in http://www.delargy.com/2005_8_Honduras/Roatan.htm
Can you expand on that explanation? Did you have any problems?
It would probably be better to expand on your expectations and desires.
What are you looking for out of your vacation? Some folks want a vacation with some diving, some want a dive vacation. There's room for all, just have to know and understand.
Are you looking for certifications, certain minimums in boats, requirement for rooms, meals, etc.
What do you want?
BIBR is a fabulous place. Like JeffG said, you'll hate it... or not!

Good Point! This is definitely a dive vacation. I did see a few shore things I would like to do, but diving is the reason for the trip.
I want good food. I hate going to all inclusives when the food is crap. Also I know this place isnt a five star resort, but I want it to be clean. If the place is falling down it's not worth going. I'll pick somewhere else. This place was chosen because it is a group trip.
In terms of diving, no certifications are needed on this trip. I'm looking for tropical diving. I dive NJ so anything with visibility is fine with me. I would actually prefer alot of shallow dives so I can log alot of bottom time to play with my camera. I just got a nice one .
I don't need night life on this trip. I don't party when I'm diving.
It's small and the Owners are on site and very hands on in the day today operations.
You will be treated like a "Guest" as apossed to a customer -
They are located on Spooky Channel "one of my favorite dive sites" so their shore dive is great....
All though not a 4 or 5 Star place you will find it very clean and well kept...
The staff will go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible...
Their location gives you quick access to about 30 dive sites within a max of 15 to 20 minute boat ride -
Dive Sites will range from wrecks:
Oddesy - 100ft range - Swim through Super Structure and stair cases - no marine life and no coral growth as it hasn't been there long enough
AL Agula - 110 ft range - Eel Garden - Lots of Big Groupers - Large Blue Parrot Fish - 2 BIG resedent Morays - some coral starting to grow - Dive will end on the reef wall with a pretty good small cave type swim through
Caves:
Bear's Den - pretty cool cave with perforated roof - if done around noon on a sunny day the light beams are fantastic
Walls:
All the Dive sites from Half Moon Bay back to the resort have spectacular walls
Sandy Patchs:
Dive Sites West of Half Moon Bay are Shallow with allot of sandy patches and coral out croppings - lots of Turtles - Rays - and a lot of the small stuff Roatan Man likes...
If I can be of any further help PM me........

The North side is not known for shallow dive profiles, you have to go to the S Side for that. Macro and shallow, go South. To search for larger stuff, North side with deeper newer wrecks.
