Just returned from two weeks in Roatan at Fantasy Island. Once again a great trip. The diving was outstanding and we had a ball. Weather really cooperated, no rain, and wind held for most days...had a couple of days with 4-5' rollers but most days the seas were cooperative. Here are a few pics of our trip(just a few, took hundreds)

Just returned from two weeks in Roatan at Fantasy Island. Once again a great trip. QUOTE]

I will be going to FI in early August and I'm interested in how the changes being made by the new owners are progressing. What's been completed so far? Is the new Thai restaurant open yet?

Any upgrades to the boats?

Is there construction going on that interferes with anything?

We were last at FI four years ago so I'm looking forward to the improvements.

Hi: "Thai Restaurant??Thai Restaurant??"---Guess you are referring to the Web Site and the reference to new Thai Restaurant---Don't know what that is all about, for the last 4 years we have been going we can say it doesn't exist and we have never seen any sign of a beginning of that nor any discussion from the management on site.
Upgrade to Boats-Robert indicated when we were there in Dec. new boats were ordered and should be delivered soon. Robert indicated when we were there in April there would be no new boats, but new engines were ordered and would be there soon. Haven't seen any upgrades to the boats and don't really expect any, but will let you know when we are there week after next if any boat upgrades were made.
The rooms have been through a fairly extensive renovation, but they are still "Island Labor" renovations so don't expect 4 star. In April there was no ongoing construction that interfered with anything, because there was no ongoing construction!
Do we still love FI and go often--you bet---why--Food is good, accomodations are clean and comfortable and fit our lifestyle, boats get us in relative comfort to the dive sites, diving is wonerful, we rarely spend time in the pool or on the beach but it's really nice and there if we want to, and the folks there are friendly and have kind of become like family....
