Good to see that you made it down to the SoCal forum..... The BeachCrabs are an awsome group of northern LA/Ventura divers that i would dive with anyday but you would get more hits on the main SoCal forum.
If you wish to get some easy shore diving, you are more than welcome to join a gathering at Avalon's Casino Point on Saturday the 30th. U would have to jump on the CatalinaExpress to come across but we plan a full day of diving. Let me know if you are interested and I will get more info to you....
I'm in Los Angeles county. I was planning on renting tanks and some gear from a dive shop in Culver City, so I'd prefer a place an hour or less from there so I can get stuff back on time, but If you know a place thats farther, tell me anyway.
I am interested in the Catalina island thing. I don't know if I can do it that weekend, but pm me with more info if you can.
I've found a site I want to try. Its on Malibu Road, and its supposed to be a nice beach dive. I'm planning on going this Sunday, October 20th. I'm going to post a note on one of the planning forums.
your going on sunday the 24th? where are you coming from? i hear the conditions there may be horendous. meaning quite highly respected in ways. viz might be in the inches, not to say thats bad, it may be quite good. swell may also be slightly more challenging than easy entries. its probably going to be appealing to only experienced low viz divers. i'm guessing. let me know where your coming from and if i don't go out on saturday i might go with you.
There is a combo North West/South,South West ground swell bearing down on the Southern California bite. I would not recommend a newbie (or anyone)shore diving this weekend unless the area is in a well protected cove.
From Culver City, the closest place to dive is in the South Bay, i.e. Vets Park (good night dive), and Malaga Cove, PV.
