  1. Come again another day

by , May 25th, 2012 at 11:14 AM (Underwater Wendy)
It is the sixth consecutive day that have been a whitewash with rain. The cruise ships have almost stopped coming. Thus, I have been held captive in my room. Checking the weather, cleaning, packing... trying to come up with something to do to pass the time of my internment.

The only excitements are the occasional claps of thunder which I play a mental game with. Will this be the end of the power? The next one? I judge their strength by the magnitude of the boom. The cat and mouse game... ...

  2. Culmination Part II

    by , May 24th, 2012 at 08:02 PM
I pull up next to the dive shop and start to unload my equipment. Enrico, the owner, politely reminds me not to park there as a pass is required and even if I was the only car in the parking area the cops are “f___ing pricks” and will write a ticket. I laugh, I’ve had a run in with the local policia once before that ended with me and a buddy not being able to unload our dive equipment at the end of a road that no one is “supposed” to drive down but everyone does. The end result was a 800 meter round ...

  3. Culmination

    by , May 24th, 2012 at 07:56 PM
A couple of weeks ago one of my brothers asked me "why do you dive? what do you like about it?" So for no particular reason I started writing and here is my confession.

Culmination. It sometimes starts two or three days in advance. I’ll plan an entire week around it. Being in the military not only do I have to work, I have work after work, aka physical training and then there is the shift work schedule to deal with, 1900-0700, P.T. at 0730-0830, that is 13 ½ hour day. ...

  4. Waiting

by , May 23rd, 2012 at 09:20 PM (Underwater Wendy)
The rainy season has officially begun in the Cayman Islands!! It feels as if its been raining for 5 straight days... although its been more like 3 or 4. But its forecasted to continue the rain until Monday ... diving was fine this past weekend... just sprinkling on the surface, but now the winds have picked up and the waves are breaking onto the iron shore.

Thus, I now have a cold from the change in weather, haven't been able to work because the cruise ships haven't been coming and ...

Size: 27.9 KBSo, you have done your PADI instructor training and now you want the next step. Where to go and what to do? As a PADI instructor you can teach all core courses, open water, advanced, rescue and divemaster but what about specialty training. Specialty training? With specialties integrated more and more into core courses, for example search and recovery, and deep into divemaster training it only seems logical that you would need to teach those specialties no? This week, ...
