It is great to see there is a place for Divers to share there experiences. I will be going to St Croix on February 3rd. Anybody got a recommedation of "must sees" or dive shops?

(I will be the first!)

I have never managed to be the first to welcome any1 (this time will be different!)

Hello and welcome Scuba Land! I look forward to seeing your comments later!

Where abouts are you from? Any funny diving stories you'd like to share?

Everyone is really nice on here (although beware for people walking round in animal print wetsuits!)

Anyway, enjoy!

Wow, what a fast reply and welcome. I always check my mail in the morning twice, once before I go out to take care of the horses and once after. I am from Upstate NY but love diving the Carribean. We do have good cold water diving up here as well. Skaneateles Lake and the St Lawrence to name a couple.

Where are you from Scuba Baby? (and why that handle) Scuba Land is my Handle because that is where I like to go.

Scuba Land

LOL
I am from the boring UK - miles from water - ARGHHH! I tend not to dive over here too much - i am not a lover of water below my body temperature hehe

Scubababy's my handle cause: scuba - for obvious reasons, and baby cause I am only a baby 17! Plus my name is Abby and if you swap the 1st 2 letters you end up with baby - so that is my nickname amongst many friends - just all seems very appropriate!

By the way - i never knew there was land in the world of scuba!?

Welcome from england scubaland, theres tons of information on there boards and we are all friends here so once again , welcome to the forums :)

Yes Scuba Baby there is a land of Scuba. It is located in the hearts and minds of those of us that love the sport. If you close your eyes and let your imagination go you will hear the bubbles from your regulator inside your head. You mind's eye will take you to the best reefs in the world teeming with aquatic life beyond your experience but well within the realm of your imagination!

The UK in not boring at all. I visited there once many years ago. Those of us that are old enough to remember, remember where we were and what we were doing when we heard that Elvis Presley had died. I was strolling along the walk in Whitley Bay. (a lovely town I might add) I was just ready to join an in law at a local Pub when I saw the Headlines in a storefront.

My children have visited more recently than I, they loved it. There is such a sense of history in the UK. Those of us from the US appreciate it as nothing is more than two hundred years old here which in terms of history would make us a Scuba Baby! My youngest son (who is 15) became a certified diver last summer. He and I will be going to Key Largo in April.

Thank you for welcoming me Scuba Baby. I hope you get chance to Scuba Dive as much as you dream. Take care.

Welcome Scuba Land!!

Interesting choice of names and even more interesting as to the reasoning why you chose it! When I get the urge I gather up the clan and off we go...Hi Ho Hi Ho off to the sea we go...As I live a little further North (Halifax, Canada)than you we sometimes carry weird type scuba eqpt more suited for mining than diving (hey Bambi the water a bit stiff :)!

Let's see what was I doing on that Aug day hmmmnn....ah yes I was cruising "the strip" in my home town just a babe behind the wheel of my dad's car, we all pulled into the local hang out and couldn't believe that the King had passed on.

Anyway rambling now, enjoy the board look forward to your posts!

The bubbles in my head, hmmmmmm, and I thought I was just having trouble unplugging my ears.

I may be from southeast Texas, but we have cold water too! And for those couple of months we don't dive, I close my eyes and use this same technique to get me through until Spring. Also great for those miles on the treadmill!

Dee & others,

This is just another one of Don's UBIs.

This is actually a zen technique developed by (believe this or not) the Germans after the 2nd world war. I was developed after many years of hardships and cold winters.
They would say,
"If I can't go diving, zen I'll just think about it"

Thought you'd like to know this
