I am sure that one time or another every diver has dreamed of "living the dream", going on vacation and never coming back, well I have decided to finally stop talking about it and finally start doing it!!! This blog will highlight the ups and downs of living the dream. Everything from how my soon to be wife (only 10 more days of single life!!) and I came to this decision, the planning involved, the actual moving from one side of the world to another as well as a few hopefully memorable moments on our one month, first ever non-diving vacation for me and the bride to be while waiting for our stuff to arrive!!

My goal is to have this serve as a guide for anyone else who hopes to one day live the dream themselves!!

So here we are, for those of you reading this in the future I am sure you are asking how did you arrive at this decision? I should first say that I would not have been able to undertake this amazing journey without the help of my loving fiancee. Let me take a second to say thank you to her, her undying support through the hurdles and tribulations of me deciding to give up a very promising career in oil & gas data management (sounds fun huh?) to move to the "revolution torn beaches" of Sharm el Sheik, Egypt. She has been a pillar of strength and kept the dream alive for three tumultuous years.

Back to the matter at hand, there are several questions that should be answered here so the reader (that's you) understands how we got here. I will attempt to do this as briefly as possible as I am sure you don't want to hear my life story up until this point. In my mind that could be an awesome book in itself but that's not really why you are reading this blog. Maybe one day I will author a self help book and appear on the Oprah network and tell you how I overcame incredible adversity and against all odds made my dreams come true, but until then I will try and keep focused and stick to the future vs the past.

This blog will hopefully be split into three different parts.

Questions to be answered:

How did we get to this decision, and what do you mean by the adventures of an ex-pat in his motherland?

What we did transform the dream to reality? This is what I hope will be the most fun part since it is literally happening as I am typing, I am expected to hear my Boo scolding me to put down the computer and start packing!!

For god sakes!!! Why Egypt!!
