What are your thoughts on the Oceanic Data Max Pro Plus download?

Here's what I know: The Oceanic Datamax Pro Plus is a great unit. Fully custimizable to show as much or as little info as you need it to. The display is large and easy to read. In addition to numeric displays and easy to understand icons, it also includes many bar graphs that are color coded. Making the computer very easy to use and understand right out of the box. The mentality behind the design is that if you can read a traffic light, you can use this computer. Doesn't get much simpler! Check out this link for more info from the manufacturer.

I already own a DMPP, for about 18 months and I agree with everything you said...I haven't run a red light with it yet!

What I need to know is your opinion of the download software for it. My one experience with Oceanics software was a few years ago when I had a Data Trans Plus computer. I'm wondering if the software has been improved. Do you know anyone who has used it and/or have any comments about it.

Dee, I'm afraid I can't compare the new with the old versions of download software, but the link I included in my previous post has a downloadable simulator that might shed some light on your question. Let me know if that doesn't answer your question and I'll call up a friend at Oceanic.

The simulator only demo's the computer itself, not the PC interface downloading. I did notice though, in the PC Interface section, (duh, never saw that before!) that they have made several upgrades since I tried the software in '97/98.

Could you find out for me if the starting and ending air is recorded on the download? That's one of my main reasons for going to the download...I keep forgetting to write it down when I dive.

Thanks, Bud

Dee,
Yes the download software does in fact log beginning and ending cylinder pressure. In fact I just got off the phone with Oceanic to confirm that.

All those friends come in handy for all your other friends!

I trust a big part of my life to Oceanic, guess I can trust 'em for a little old piece of software :D

Dee,
It's called networking. We are growing in numbers every day, if you take a look at the number of registered members we're now in the 500's. The more we grow, the bigger our web will get. The bigger the web gets the more attention we will get when we need to say something.

I'm honored to consider you a new friend and am happy that I'm making more and more friends through these boards.
