Has anyone ever stayed here? My wife and I are considering a week there and we have a couple of questions regarding equipment and shore dives... I can't find a website for the either the dive shop or the hotel. Any help would be appreciated.

The diving in Cozumel is excellent as I am sure that you have heard. I was very happy with the Cas del Mar. The room was comfortable although not luxurious and the service was very good.

We used Dive with Martin and were very happy with them. My son and I got certified there on referral. The only shore diving we did was from Martin's dive shop which is next to the pier. They have a sunken airplane out there in about 40' that is interesting and attracts a bit of wildlife.

What else do you want to know?

It's been several years since we stayed at Casa del Mar, we usually stay at Laceiba, their sister hotel across the street. Friends stay at the Casa alot and they really like it. We just like to be on the beach side of the road, other than that, we'd be staying at Casa too.

Their dive op is Del Mar Aquatics. The general manager, Gustavo Maldanado, has workked really hard to turn it around. We had a very large group there in July and used DMA. I have no complaints at all other than I like smaller boats. But for our group, it was great. Gustavo is a marine biologist and insists all his DM study and respect the environment. All DM's are also instructors.

Here's their website. www.cozumel-diving.net/del_mar_aquatics/

You might want to go to the Cozumel board and check with us there. You can talk to Pearl, who works for Del Mar Aquatics. Coz board - www.travelnotes.cc/cgi-local/index1.cgi
