ok so maybe I am a little ethusiastic about wanting to dive. The local lakes here in Arizona don't offer much visability so finding someone who actually wants to dive for fun is difficult, I had to pay extra for my open water cert dives in the lakes, everyone says go to Mexico or San Diego, just out of my budget to take such trips. the lakes are 20 minutes away and are over 100 feet deep. what things should I do to go on more local dives?

Hang out at the local shop...or others in your area...Chances are there are a few "hardcore" divers near you. I'm in the same boat and know what you mean...A few people around here dive year-round and in the local lakes and what have you, trouble is most of them are members of the local rescue team, and their doing it for training, not pleasure. So that leaves me out, for now anyways. You can also check for clubs in your aera, like Hammerheads. They may have a chapter near you. Unfortunately, they don't here. But my search continues!

Warhammer, how could your advice be anything other than to just LEAVE ARIZONA!?!?!

hehe, I'm just teasing Fishkiller, but if you are thinking about making the trek to San Diego be sure to announce it a few days ahead of schedule as there are alot of us in San Diego that would be happy to go diving with you. And if no one is avalible, and the Local Psyche Ward isn't running their weekly test again on :mario: Mario, we will toss him towards you, hehe. All his shots are current and we promise to keep a fresh colar on him ...

Fishkiller,
LOL! Looks like some of the sharks around here beat me to it. Now everyone knows my secrets ;-0 But in all seriousness, I've had the opportunity to meet many divers from AZ here in San Diego. 99.9% of them are really good people. The shops there minimize costs by filling buses with divers to dive the SD coastline.

In fact that's how King Neptune made it out here. Someone put him on the "Short Bus" and then they conveniently left him here... :loopy: LOL!

Dear Fishkiller,
First of all what's up with your name? Kinda spooks me. Or am I missing something here?
Anyway, I got certified and didn't know another soul that was a diver.
I decided to put a division on to my already existing travel business and make it a " Dive Division". It started out so I could meet other women divers that didn't have a buddy either. Now I've met a ton, and we include men divers and couples.
If you're ever intereted in joining one of our trips, they will all be posted by the end of this week.
Be on the look out in the travel part of the boards.
Dive the Planet!

Fishkiller comes from the time I killed a fish, I am the second name in the National Freshwater Fisihing Hall of Fame record book. My nephew called me a fishkiller it has stuck.

Diving has for me been a natural progression of my obsession, what more could I do? so swimming with the fishes was next, can't beat them join them.

will look for your travel post
