For Caymancase, I note that you are a resident diver on Grand Cayman. I have a favor to ask. The Little Cayman Diver II has listed its winter base of operations as the Sunset House for 2000-2001. It is a private yacht-liveaboard that takes 10 divers. Could you make a call or visit and see if, in fact that boat is operating now and taking divers ? Note, this is the second boat to bear this name. The original boat is hauled up at some facility on G.C. where weather and vandals are taking their toll.
Thanks for your help.

Dear Professor,

I'm sorry I didn't include the II after Little Cayman Diver the first post.

LCDII is up for sale and is in dry dock at Harbour House MArina in GC. The former owner has already sold it to the owner of the marina and they are now prepping her for resale.

I too, live in GC and saw her there 15min ago. Yes, there are now 2 LCD at the marina. (One in a lot better shape than the other)

Again, sorry for the bad news.

Keith

I'm glad Keith could help you out with info... I hate to be the bearer of bad news!

Attn: Keith

You are incorrect. The owner of the LCDII is on the island right now overseeing regular maintenance and upgrades. She is also being hauled out for bottom paint, which we have done every 2 years both on this the Little Cayman Diver II and her predecessor, the Little Cayman Diver I which ran aground in 1991. The OLD boat(LCDI) has been sold to the marina because we were tired of paying storage on her; they inturn can now take the time to sell her to anyone who wants to rebuild her (we had neither the time nor the inclination to keep running down there to discuss her rebuilding with prospective buyers). The Little Cayman Diver II has NOT been sold and we have charters booked well into 2001 beginning in February. In anticipation of a rough Winter, we thought of running her out of Grand Cayman. We have decided to return to Little Cayman for the booked charters as soon as the work on her is completed. If for any reason there was a delay on that work, we already have a back-up plan to lease a larger boat to put in place to continue the charters UNINTERRUPTED. You take a great responsibility upon yourself to be an unappointed spokesperson for the LCDII. Have you considered the legal ramifications to you if you caused our passengers to cancel due to your incorrect reports. Do yourself a favor and call me at (813) 935-2250 as soon as possible. I want to know where you got your misinformation and your full retraction posted. I do not have email receiving capability on my computer as I only use a guest network. Thanks for clearing this up. I'm sure many are happy to hear this, including the Professor. I have made a note of your phone number for future inquiries on LCDII. Is this how you would want people to contact you? Or is there another way? Thanks Casey

Dear Group,

Where I thought I had information straight from the "horses mouth" is obviously in error. What I hate about some of the postings is what I just did.

Please except my apologies and I wish the continuing great service and experience of LCDII

Keith

Just stopped in at Harbour House Marina today to pick up some line and decided to take a walk through the yard to check in on LCD II. She's looking beautiful inside and out. She's almost done. The only thing left to do on her is the painting for her bottom job. The nice man working on her was pretty certain that she'll be back in the water on Monday. So all is well for LCD II and she should be wet again on Monday. Casey

For Caymancase, I really appreciate your update on the LCD II. Indeed, she is a beautiful boat. I have dove from her at Little Cayman every year for the past 9 years. I am booked again for two weeks in May.

Again, Thanks !!

On Sunday I begrudgingly left LCDII after having THE BEST week of diving ever. The boat is in tip-top shape and the crew cannot be beat. For the past week we were catered to and supplied with some absolutely “WOW” diving. The new cook is wonderful, and even if you don’t have a large appetite, you’ll be hard pressed not to eat too much at every meal. The Captain runs a great ship, has a great sense of humor and as accommodating as they come. The Dive Master is fabulous. He’s there when you need him and at the same time lets you enjoy your diving without “babysitting”. If you want to find specific marine life, he’s your man. I cannot say enough good things about the boat & crew and heck; the diving just can’t be beat. (I could have spent the entire week diving only Jackson Wall). WOW!

Ihave just returned from two weeks and 51 dives on the Little Cayman Diver II. The boat has been completely refurbished, all equipment, air-conditioning etc. functioned beautifully. I agree, the staff was great--this is the first time I gained weight on a dive trip. I can say with certainity that in 20 years of diving I have never met a more amiable and entertaining divemaster (and part-time cook) than Andy Collins. If you want a conducted dive or you wish to dive solo 24/7 this is the boat for you ! At least one of us saw a shark every day and we literally had to push turtles out of the way ! Little Cayman is still the best dive location in the Caribbean. I will be back next year.
