  1. Take care of yourself

    DivemasterDennis here, scuba snob, PADI pro, avid diver, and now cancer patient. I have been told no diving for the indefinite future, and I never thought that would be the case. I still feel good, but cancer cells have taken up residence in more than one body part, and I am starting to have impact on my respiratory system. I share that news as a 6o year old white male who is in good , very good health, or thought I was. A persistent cough sent me to the doctor and VOILA, look what they found! ...

    Sometimes I ask myself; what is it about shore diving that I find so enjoyable and appealing? It is the feeling of freedom and independence, or do I just hate waking up early to catch the morning dive boat? Don't misunderstand, I absolutely love diving from a boat, but with that being said, why even bother with shore diving......

    People from all over the world flock to Bahamas to enjoy white beaches, palm trees and turquoise water. They drink fruity cocktails in the sun, get drunk, sun-burnt and then happily go back to their daily lives. Why would anyone in its right mind fly across the globe to such a paradise to don 50Kg of gear and swim into a cold, dark and hazardous holes?

    We must have just missed each other, Jake. I couldn't agree more on the visit to Casco Viejo and Cafe Rene (home style meal for $8.50pp w/ inexpensive wine and beer). We also took a boat through the MiraFlores locks and then watched from the overlook above. Truly awe inspiring! We left Panama City and dove two days (March 19-20) from Pedasi Sports Club--owner Bobby, DM Cari very friendly, and a very nice place to stay and dive. Our favoirite restaurant "Smiley's" we returned to several ...
