Scubapro has a limited lifetime warranty on regs provided they are serviced annually by an authorized dealer. I'm being quoted 25-30 dollars per stage, plus parts for this annual service. That could add up to about $100 for 1st, 2nd stage and air2. Multiple that by my family of 4 recreational divers and it gets right up there every year. I could almost buy new regs every couple years for that, I mean what does the warranty cover anyway? Picture General Motors giving a lifetime warranty on your car provided you have it completely rebuilt every year at your cost. The warranty seems to become rather meaningless doesn't it?
What's your opinion? Those of you with Scubapro equipment, what do you do?

CarwashGuy,

What brand of reg doesn't matter, you should have any reg serviced annualy.

Remember: Forget it's a regulator and think of it as LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPMENT.

Thinking this way it takes on a whole new outlook. Then you will realize it's money well spent, regardless of the brand.

At least my shop doesn't charge for parts under Scubapro's warranty, which is why I'm considering a new Scubapro rig.

If you're paying $35 - $45 for annual maintenance, why add another $25 - $50 in parts? I'm no service tech, RainReg can let us know for sure, but there are parts that should be replaced every time the rig is serviced (rings, seals)

Now Atomic has actually stated that you can go two years between service. No free parts though. And as ID has said, I'd rather have my life support checked up every year or more depending on the abuse the reg has recieved.

Check out Scubapro USA website. They are offering a $50.00 rebate on any UL reg, $30.00 on any other reg and $20.00 off any AIR II.

Print it out, negotiate your best deal with the shop and then hand them the rebate for even more savings!

You shouldnt have to pay for the parts.. Just the labor.. If your dive shop is charging you for the parts and the reg is still under warranty (you bought it brand new).. Then send it to Scubapro to get it serviced..
