Size: 27.9 KBSo, you have done your PADI instructor training and now you want the next step. Where to go and what to do? As a PADI instructor you can teach all core courses, open water, advanced, rescue and divemaster but what about specialty training. Specialty training? With specialties integrated more and more into core courses, for example search and recovery, and deep into divemaster training it only seems logical that you would need to teach those specialties no? This week, ...
  2. PADI Discover scuba workshop - Instructor practice time!!

    by , May 13th, 2012 at 11:33 PM
As part of our practice in the instructor course, we run a discover scuba diving workshop. This is also great for divemasters in training. A discover scuba program is an opportunity for someone who hasn't tried before the chance to blow their first bubbles underwater. I pick my four guinea pigs (; ))) ) who invariably are friends of mine, looking to try scuba, and then let our Go Pro candidates loose!! Its a great opportunity to practice teaching techniques, problem solving, and briefing skills. ...

When I arrived at the shop Georgia was the first ...

Size: 27.2 KBFunday Sunday is here, but if you live and work where I do most days are "fundays". A swell has come in and dropped the viz which isn't so good but also with that there has been a surge of krill in the water which has brought us schools of jacks, barracudas and other large fish closer into shore. Talking about big fish, I had the opportunity to go diving last week with some beautiful billfish. I was asked to safety dive for the billfish research project. ...
  5. Exchanging my survival suit for a swim suit! - PADI IDC review

    by , March 20th, 2012 at 07:26 PM
After working for a year on fishing vessels up in the Bering Sea buried beneath 10 layers of clothing and still being cold, I decided it was high time for a change. So I set out to exchange my survival suit for a swim suit. And what better way to accomplish this goal than to go ahead and Go Pro with my Scuba Certification.

I was originally planning on getting my Divemaster in Ecuador, however the company I was trying to go through was extremely slow with replying to emails and ...
