Hi!

I've just been told about this excellent looking message board. I used to use a UK board "Divernet", but to be honest no one uses it much anymore!

I live in London, but don't dive in the UK now as I've come to prefer tropical locations. I'm a keen photograher, and have a big thing for sharks.

Anyway, greetings all!

David,

Greetings from another (now ex) UK diver (ex UK, not ex diver!)

However, I think that the title of the thread is a little off.

The best description that I can think of for most of the guys (and ladies) here is fanatical.

Enjoy!

Heya David,

You may have a hard time finding "Anyone here that likes diving" ... as most everyone here is pretty much completely addicted and hopelessly hooked for life (or will be if they stick around here long enough, hehe).

... don't dive in the UK now as I've come to prefer tropical locations

Well you're a stronger soul than I ...
I think my only requirements would be ... [red]WATER[/red], hehe

I'm a keen photograher

AWESOME! If you would like we would be happy and willing to put those photos into a Image Gallery that is also a Virtual Postcard System!
(like the one at ImageHarbor.com)

... and have a big thing for sharks.

Now we are talkin! *or drooling*

=-)

Just took a quick stroll around your webpage - you pics are BRILLIANT! What camera do you have?

I looks like some were taken on a night dive - pretty strong strobe you must have!

You are too kind ScubaBaby!

I'm a keen u/w photographer, but not a serious u/w photographer. I only use a Sea and Sea MMII with YS50TTL external strobe, occassionally a 1:3 macro (or is it 3:1, as I said I'm not serious!) or a 20mm wide angle.

I do not dive with the aim of taking photos, but take photos to record what I see. That probably makes no sense at all, but what I mean is I will never "waste" a dive trying to get a particular shot, I just shoot the image and move on to the next thing. In my experience being a buddy of a serious underwater photographer is DULL! That's why I will never get a more complicated camera, you risk missing too much of the dive playing with knobs and dials!

My boyfriend is much the same. He is a master scuba instructor tho and when he wants to get a particular shot he goes down on his own - I refuse to dive with someone who is happy to sit on the same spot waiting for a cleaner shrimp to pop its head out! He can sit there for up to 45 minutes.

Me, I'm just getting into U/W photography. I was looking to buy a digital camera for my boyfriend - now I am reconsidering and thinking about getting one for me that he can use when I am not.

I definitely want my own camera by august as I am going on a live-a-board in the deep south of the red sea!

I like to just have a swim around and take pics of what i see rather than sit and wait for something to come to me!

Welcome, welcome. You have quite a site there. You will enjoy yourself here.

There is always something to learn, and fun to have. (although watch out for the tiger and lamé suits -- and the people in them). :D

You've some great photos there, Dude! I use the same equipment. And I know what you mean...I'm a diver who takes pictures of what I see, not a Photographer who dives!

Welcome to the board!
