The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries in collaboration with Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) along with partners NCCOS, Discovery Diving, and the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is hosting a two-day workshop and diving opportunity to learn to survey the biological communities associated with North Carolinas shipwrecks.
The workshop is designed to provide training for individuals in the identification of fish and invertebrates off the coast of North Carolina. Participants will learn how to conduct REEF surveys of the marine organisms on and around shipwrecks. Participants can then use these same techniques on their own to collect important data for REEF fish and invertebrate citizen science monitoring programs. The fish and invertebrate data that is collected is uploaded to the REEF database where it is available for public viewing and scientific analysis.

Cost: $40.00 per person/per day. Cost includes REEF training materials, a slot on the dive boat, and all dive equipment.
RSVP: Space is limited to 18 people on a first come, first serve basis by September 2, 2013.

Not a Diver?
Non-divers may attend the workshops at no cost and will be able to purchase REEF training materials on-site at the workshop.
