I just bought a seatec 45# lift(looks just like a halcyon explorer)
I removed the backplate assembly out of a extra scubapro bc I had! It has the same holes as the dir plate on the bottom!
I am going to make a stainless bracket for the top that I can bolt on for top dir notches! I plan on using this for one tank(95 lp)
rec diving. So I can use the scubapro tank strap system.
Has anyone tryed this before any ideas or help would be great and welcome. I paid 90 dollars for this wing with the inflator and lp hose. what do yous think Rick L

ps I had to give the wing setup a try hope this works!!

SeaTec has been in the business for many years.
If what you have is a "Seahorse" BC, and it sounds it is,
then it is designed for use with the "old style" hard-pac.
You should be able to use it with little trouble.

Well... (arrggg).... hmmmm

(if I say anything negative then it will simply be dismissed as DIR snobbery :grad: .... if I don't and he ends up hating it then he will think that all wing setups are :yuck: .... cripes...)

Hi Rick!

Sounds like you got a good deal on the wing....:thumb:

I wonder however if it is the best wing for use with a single....
The Halcyon explorer wing would be terrible for use with a single...

(that's it... put down Halcyon.... they eat that up...)

A Halcyon explorer wing is meant for doubles....
If used with a single it will wrap up around the tank....
"Flappin' in the breeze" as they say...
Create drag and be very hard to dump air from...

Hopefully the wing you have.... since it is on the small side...
Won't present these problems....
The halcyon pioneer wing is very narrow so that it won't wrap up too high on a single....

(good move switching to small *h* in Halcyon.... sends a subtile signal that you are not trying to over emphasze the big *H*...)

Hope things work out for you.... let us know!

Hi I have no problem with you pointing that out thats what im looking for! Im trying to set this up with stuff I have!
And I want people to point out posible problems.
The wing dosn't look real big 21 inch wide 24 inch long when
fully inflated! This was a unplanned purchase.
I was at my favorite LDS with a couple of my buddies.Lds is moving about 100 miles away to cape cod :-(
He was giving us some things like a tank tumbler a tank inspection light some nice posters. I got the giant SSI dive table
posters look nice on the wall with all my gear hehe.
When we where about to leave I noticed the wing on a pile of bcs. I asked how much for the wing? He says a tech diver ordered
it and never picked it up. He says 100 dollars I had 90 in cash on me he says ok. I just cant pass up on what I think is a good deal
90 bucks for a brand new wing. My friends are asking me what are you going to do with that thing? Use it for a pillow hehe.
I think this will work. By using the scubapro backpack I dont need
to worry about how to attach the tank. I found a dir harness diagram on this site and see no problem adapting this backplate to copy it. Anyone see any other posible problems?
all imput is welcome. Rick L

Do you still have access to a digital camera???

Replace the photo of your feet with a photo of the stuff you have...

That way we can all *help you tack it together* :D

BTW.... take your wing an lay it on the floor....
Lay a tank down the middle....
Wrap the wing up on each side....
How far does it wrap???

You're a pipefitter, man-what CAN'T you put together with your own hands????

I think it sounds like fun to build your own stuff.

Good Luck, I know nothing of realms your venturing into.

Mike

That'll do Rick.... that'll do....

Yeah... and it was in Shrek too....

I have a couple of those backpacks out in the shop and I was just thinking the other day that I might be fun to set one up with a wing for singles....

That wing you have looks just right ...
I always did like my old Seatec stuff....
First few BCs I had were Seatec...
But I don't think I have a wing in the pile.....
