Does anyone know roughly how much weight will be added if I switch my tank cam straps from the standard plastic buckle types to Halcyon's SS buckle ones?
Last i saw it was less than or equal to 2 pounds. I believe less than probably in the 1.5 pound area
2 pounds??? The density of steel is in the order of 7.8kg/liter while the one of lead is in the order of 11.3kg/liter. This would imply that a steel buckle of about 2 pounds would be about 1.5 times the volume of a 2 pound lead weight... which is 'huge' for a simple stainless steel tank belt buckle you know...
Anyhow, I've both original Mares tank belts with the plastic cam buckle as wel as good old original Scubapro tank belts with their big stainless steel hinged 2-piece buckle system, and a complete Mares tank belt incl. the cam buckle weights about 200gram and the Scubapro one weights about 300gram... so the added weight is only 100gram(which is only 0.22lbs... so neglegible added weight after all!).

The weight difference between my DSS cam straps with plastic buckles and my OXycheq cam straps with steel buckles is about 6 oz per strap, so I guess a pair of them would add about 300 grams of negative buoyancy.
