    BC purchasing decision

Hi, I got tons of help over in the Reg section, so hopefully I can get some advice here.

I am purchasing my first set of equipment and do not have much money to spend. I have narrowed down my choice for a BC between SHERWOOD AVID BC and the MARES VECTOR 1000 MRS BCD. Please share your opinions and experiences with each. Thanks

I'm very happy with my AVID after 184 dives.

    Here were my initial thoughts:

My ever growing collection of assorted ramblings on scuba topics can be read here.

No sequence of classes will make a good diver out of you, if you aren't actively diving and practicing in the meantime.

Wow - a thread where I can be the FIRST to say...

    You don't want a BCD, you want a BP/W!

My spousal unit is using the MAres

really likes it, but she also turned her nose up at a Fusion!!!!:11: The MRS has a BAd rep for letting go at the wrong time, but that has not been a problem with hers.

But she really does not have a lonnnnnng perspective to compare it with. REALLY it is what you are comfortable with,

I have had a Mares Vector 1000 Air Trim, I have about 80+ dives on it and have really enjoyed it. The construction is tough as nails, lots of steel D-rings (8) and the Air Trim inflator is very user friendly and super responsive. The size of the pockets are great too. I also really like the weight pocket system of Mares very secure and no velcro to wear out.
