Yes, the hogarthian does. Both of my DSS rigs use the ProFit harness and that comes with 1", I believe. That could have changed but I recall buying a couple of crotch straps.

I've picked up an older ss backplate that does not have slots for cam straps, so I will need to put an STA on it. My question is can I use ss bolts from Home Depot rather than these pricey sex bolts / book screws? If so, would wing nuts would be okay to use with the bolts and would I need to use lock washers also to make sure it doesn't loosen up?

The Oxycheq mini adapters I use came with ss wing nuts and carrage bolts but I used some ss nuts and lock washers from the hardware store.

You don't want to use sex bolts / book screws for mounting an STA.

Wing nuts, washers, and bolts are all that's needed. If you want to get fancy, you can get the DSS delrin thumbwheel instead of a wing nut and washer.

Depends on the wing and cam slots. If the wing's cam slots are long, then there's a possibility that the wing can slide up and out of position. The sex bolt makes sure that it's held vertically in place. Plus, it makes setting easier as you don't have a flopping wing to also manage.

Since the sex bolt doesn't bear a lot of load, the plastic ones are fine. If you don't want to buy any at this time that's fine. Just carry zip ties. If you find out after the first dive that the wing moves up or rides too high, then zip tie the wing for your next dives.

Nope, no changes, just dfferent harnesses.

The DSS adjustable "Pro-Fit" harness has always shipped with a 1 inch crotch strap, and the Hogarthian kits have always included a 2" crotch strap.

FWIW -- I got the standard DSS setup (hog harness, SS plate, wing, cam band, etc.) and am very happy. Not really that much more than this setup (after you add the crotch strap and cams) and both the service and workmanship was top notch.

If you plan to use STA, you will need stainless steel carriage bolt, 5/16"(dia) x 1.25"(length). Sex bolt won't be strong enough to hold the tank's weight. If you were to get Oxycheq mini STA, the bolts come with the STA are too short. So I suggest you either go with a different STA, or be prepare to hunt down some SS carriage bolt.

FYI, the sex-bolts were never intended to hold a STA onto a plate. They are for attaching the wing to the plate to prevent movement, if needed.
