    BCD Metal Cam Buckles

    Hi Guys:

How do you prevent metal cambuckles from etching the finish of scuba tanks? Switched from BCD to BPW with metal cam buckles. They're easier to use but, I'm rather dismayed that they damaged my tank.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Claude

    Suggestions:
    1. Go with a shot blast finish tank.
    2. Duct tape where the band is going to touch the tank.
    3. Get plastic cam bands.

Install rubber flaps on your cam straps. Halcyon single tank adapters comes with them from the factory. What brand do you have?

Unless it's actually removing the galvanizing on steel tanks who cares? If they are Aluminum so what? They'll look like they have been used. Get some inner tube and cut strips so that you can put them around the ends of the cams. They can still be used but won't scratch the tank.

    Hi Wayne:

Bought two of them. I use a Faber steel tank which has painted surface. The paint prevents rust from forming so it's imperative that it does not get damaged. I'm going to fill in the marks with a clear coat, that way I can see if rust forms underneath. My metal cam buckles actually damage the tank net. I've had the tank for nearly ten years with very little marks on it. I just want to keep it in good condition. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    Claude

PS Using XS Scuba/Highland cam bands/buckles. They have a quick disconnect type of buckle that allows me to mount my BPW without having to slider over the tank.
