I have an oceanic excursion 2...though that probably doesn't matter. I am just unable to figure out how this strap works, I've used them before and like the simplicity but I just don't know which way to route it through the BC. Anyone that has replaced their strap on ANY BC please help!!

I think what he;s asking is how to replace the cam band with a scubpro style that has the steel buckle assemby. It may not just thread through the back plate of a regular BC. At one time I had an Oceanic Probe that I modified to hold a can light battery cannister near the plate. What I had to do was remove some screws under the padding on the inside of the bc. This allowed the plate to be loosened enough to fasten the straps I was using. It should also allow the slots to be widened by carefully prying the plastic plate loose. It likely is not a solid piece but two pieces that the cam bands are sandwiched between. I don't have one handy to look at and pictures really don't help. Inspect the backplate to see if there are screws in it. There should be. Loose or remove them and you should be able to get the gap wide enough to thread the new bands through.

Yes, it's the strap with the stainless steel buckle on it. My strap/buckle doesn't look like those in that other thread but thank you I'm going to try and work off of that. I removed the backplate and threaded it through it's just hard to figure out if I put it on properly without having a tank to attach the BC to. I'm gonna take it by my LDS that I bought the strap from today and see if they can take a look and verify I put it on properly. Thanks to both of the above responses!
