I used to have a TUSA BCJ. I would rate it as "okay". The main things I did not like were that it was about 2 pounds positively buoyant, and there was no crotch strap attachment option. I dive Zeagle now, and have never regretted changing. Great modular design, and the company stands behind their products.
Junk... save your money for something better. All midlevel BCs are the same in my opinion... you defintely get what you pay for.
I bought a SeaQuest Balance 10 years ago and it still works great. Moved to a tech setup since but that's another story.
Just don't skimp on your BC cause you'll be buying more gear 2 or 5 years down the line if you don't get good stuff.
Junk? Have you used one for 10 years or until it was no longer usable to see the actual usable life of this BC? Just remember Tusa does a lot of work for ScubaPro when it comes to there regs. Does this fact make ScubaPro regs junk? I would say if the BC's are well made and fit you right go for it.
I got a used tusa BC for my gf who did not want to spend a lot from a shop that was replacing it's rental gear for 75.00. I would not call it junk. It saw numerous hours in the pool as well as god knows how many ow dives during its say 5 years as a rental. Other than some dulling of the embroidery it looks like a new bc. And due to their bs policies I'd buy it again over any aqualung or scubapro product. Save money and the quality just as good. If you are new divers and want a conventional bc consider used. You may find you want something different down the road. The last thing I would tell a new diver to do is spend more than 400 on a conventional bc.
