    Transpac II sizing

    I just picked up a new Transpac II size medium/large. I'm 5'6" 160 lbs.

The manual states the shoulder strap base plates can be moved forward or back for best fit and/or performance.

I recall reading someone stating for best fit and stability to move the shoulder strap base plates as far back as possible.

When I move the strap base plates as far back as possible, I think the medium/large is too small for me. The adjustable shoulder straps are almost at their ends. If I move the base plates directly under my armpits the shoulder straps have a good 3 inches of adjustment left.

Where do you Transpac II owners have you shoulder strap base plates located ?

    funny you should say that

I feel like the damn thing is too small for me too when I tighten it up. In the water though it feels great. I just dove with mine until i got it right. Before I go in I tighten the shoulder straps so that they are nice and tight. Have you dove your TPII yet or have you been trying it on dry. I am a bit bigger than you as well. I am 6' 3" and have had 0 problems with the medium large and I out weigh you a bit as well. The TPII tends to feel like it rides high and my buddy who is 6' 4" dives the TPII as well and it rides really high. Some advice to you would be to buy a crotch strap now. I dove around 15 dives on the TPII without a crotch strap and it is just a pain in the ass on the surface while you are waiting to get picked up. Kinda coll though, you just have to lay directly on top of the bladder and look up at the sky, if not the harness will move up on you. If you want more advice or suggestions just post again or IM me. I have the same rig you do and have been diving it for a while. Hope I've helped.

Just picked it up today, so it hasn't gotten wet yet.

If you are happy with the fit of your medium/large then it's should not be too small for me. I guess the straps need to get wet to loosen up a little.

Come to think of it, with my old BC, I always tightened down the straps even further after I was in the water.

Do you have the shoulder stap base plates all the way back towards the wing ?

    Thanks for your help.

I have the same BC and I am the same height but ...eh... slightly heavier (did I say that in a public forum?) any way I have my plates all the way back and it fit great.

quattro! I have the straps all the way back as well and it feels great (and the weight pockets are not in the way and don't restrict my movement).

I'm about 5'10' and have the plates an inch or two from the back, and have too much spare on the shoulder straps.

The fit will vary when you have a weight belt on (if you use one) and when the cylinder is pulling it back off the shoulders. I wear mine quite high on my torso as this feels more secure and trimmed under water.

    Mine are back

They are pretty close towards the wing, but I just fiddled with it until it felt right

    Two Inches

My strap anchor plates are about two inches forward from the back of the harness. Size M/L harness. I am 6'1", but have long legs.

    It is quite comfortable.
