Question Double tanks means double regulators?

    Hello all,

I'm planning to buy a Halcyon bp/w rig in two weeks. I most probably will buy the explorer which is for doubles. Does that mean I have to have two first and second stages? I saw the quotation given to me and I was put down for 2 Apeks ATX100DIN(1st) and 2 Apeks ATX40 (2nd). Did the LDS double charge me or do I need two?

    Thx

    Jalal

    You need two

It will cost you a lot of money for gear, courses and gas but if you don't mind spending the time and the money the rewards and the excitement will be worth it.

Sounds like you picked a car and forgot it needs 4 wheels.

For the most part unless you are part of the old US Navy or the South Korean Navy double tanks today mean dual outlet manifolds with TWO primary regulators.

Can you do it with one ? You can but it wont meet with technical diving standards.

I'm a little surprized you knew you wanted doubles but had not known it takes 2 regulators.

Have you seen doubles set ups in Dubai ? Do they use 2 regs or only one ?

Curt, it has to be more than 100k I know i've spent easily $150k and I only have one rebreather -- you have more than i have ...... but it think i have more tanks. azzler1:

Does adding in the truck that's only used for diving a cost of diving equipment ? If that's the case i think we need to add in another $50k

    Cheers .........

    Question

    JS1scuba,

What is the old US Navy or the South Korean Navy double tanks? Do they use "cheater bar" instead the isolate manifold? I can't get any clues..

    Thanks in advance,

Single outlet Manifold. US Divers still makes them for the US Navy. Also about every 2 years we get a big long bid sheet from the S. Korean Navy looking for diving equipment and invariably those single outlet manifolds are on it.

This particular one has been around for decades. It has a reserve valve on it (J-valve)

    Joel,
can you get those still? Can we get them as civilians and what are the advantages and disadvantages of a single outlet manifold for doubles? I know a guy that has some extra 72's, he wants to double them with a single outlet manifold but cannot locate one.

    Regards,
    Jalal,

I wouldn't advise going with this manifold. I think it's better to keep your eyes focused on the goal and buy the manifold you eventually will need. If you buy something like this then you'll end up replacing it on short order and spending more money than you need to.

You can attach one reg to a set of doubles, you just don't attach the other side. You lose any advantage in redundancy that the double could have given you so it's kind of pointless to set it up like this but it is possible.

The best thing is to buy two regs.
