Hi everyone

I have just bought the Canon PowerShot SD850 IS (Digital IXUS 950 IS in the UK).

I am on the verge of buying the housing unit for it (WP-DC15).

What I'd like to know is whether anyone can recommend a wide angle lens and appropriate adapter that I can use in conjunction with the WP-DC15.

Aparently Inon make an adapter and a wide angle lens but I have no idea how good they are and whether or not there is anything better (and compatible with the WP-DC15).

Any advice would be very greatful.

Hi Adrian!

I have a Sony camera (DSC-N1) in a Sony housing and I use all of Inon's accessories (strobes, lens mount, optical cables, fisheye lens, wide angle lens and close up lens) for it, so I'm pretty familiar with their stuff.

Plainly stated, Inon's accessories are amazing. You will be awed by the underwater pictures you will be able to take, once you get the hang of it. I reside in South Florida and I dive almost every weekend, and even though I do not have the best camera for underwater use and I am now only starting to get the hang of my system, I still can't believe how my simple point and shoot camera can yield such great results.

I checked on Inon's website, and they do support the Canon WP-DC-15 underwater housing (http://www.inonamerica.com/products.php?product_id=338&pagenum=3&prodcat=9&subcat=1). For that housing, you can purchase the lens mount (AD Mount Base DC5/15), which will allow you to mount the following lenses:

*Inon Wide Angle Conversion Lens (UWL-105AD)
*Inon Underwater Fisheye Conversion Lens (UFL-165AD)
*Inon Close-up Lens (UCL-165AD) (I stack two of these together!)

Also, if you plan to connect one of Inon's strobes, you will need to get Inon Optical D Cable/Cap W31 Set.

If you would like to see some of the pictures I've taken with my camera and Inon's accessories, you can take a look at my gallery. Also, I've recently posted a few threads with enclosed pictures that should give you a few more examples:

If you need a good source for your Inon accessories, Reef Photo (Reef Photo & Video!, The Underwater Photo Pros) is as good as it gets, and they carry all of Inon's accessories.

Feel free to PM me if you need any further advice about the practical applications of these accessories.

Best of luck to you!
