New cave book - from Russia with love :)

I hope, you will find interesting our project that we just completed.

The project has involved many divers from different Russian cities. Teams of cave divers succeeded one another, they have posed as models, helped with flashes. Core team - photographer Vitya Lyagushkin, assistant Bogdana Vashchenko. We spent there 6 months, made about 150 dives, all the time we photographed.

This work resulted in the book "Orda Cave Awarness Project" and photo exhibition.
The book is dedicated to the longest underwater gypsum cave in the world, which is located near the village of Orda (Perm region, Russia). The book is illustrated with more than 100 unique underwater photos. It contains articles by scientists, who study the cave, interviews with underwater cave explorers - pioneers of the cave, reviews of the world's leading experts in cave diving.

You can know more on our website
here are few photos from our book

Beautiful pictures. Is the only way to order, via the e-mail address on the web page?

    Nice photos.

Is the gypsum relatively solid compared to limestone or does it crumble easily with percolation or to touch?

I remember reading an article about this cave -- the author said the gypsum is extremely fragile, and tieoff sites need to be chosen with great care.

cool cave, getting a good picture with the white of teh gypsum and the dark of the cave would have been a nightmare
