We will have a layover in Charlotte and Grand Cayman and want to buy some adult beverages for our trip to Little Cayman. Are the prices better at one place or another?

We found the local cay brew beer to be a good brew and drank mostly cuban rum when we were down there so didnt see the need to buy duty free anything to take.

You won't be able to purchase duty free during your layover at GCM since you're not leaving the Cayman Islands on your trip to Little Cayman.

IMO, you should absolutely, positively, with out question purchase purchase adult beverages in the U.S. before heading to any of the Cayman Islands. Between duty and shipping alcohol is quite a bit more expensive in Cayman than it is in the U.S. If you don't purchase it at the duty free in Charlotte, you'll have to pack any alcohol you bring in your checked bags. You may have to transfer anything you purchase in Charlotte to your checked bags for the flight from GCM to LYB, you'll have to double check on that. In my experience, the duty free at American airports is not appreciably cheaper than buying stuff at the local liquor store. Maybe a dollar a bottle or so cheaper at the duty free.

Here's a link to the restrictions on bringing alcohol into the Cayman Islands: "visitors 18 years and older can bring in duty-free either one liter of alcohol, four liters of wine or one case of beer (not exceeding eight litres) and 200 cigarettes, or 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco."

1 liter of alcohol or 50 cigars, lol.

Yes, you will have to transfer it into your check bag for the trip over to LC. Once you clear customs in GC, you have to check-in at the Cayman Express counter and you will not be allowed to carry bottles of liquids back through security. So make sure you leave room in your check bags to put the liquor before checking them back in on GC.

Aggie is correct re Owen Roberts Airport. Security rules apply.

Hardly worth the trouble.
As I recall, the prices at the bar at LCBR were quite reasonable.
They also had full bottles of wine available for purchase for dinner at prices that were not outrageous.
There is also a liquor store in Blossom Village on LC if you want to buy something to take back to your room. Walking or biking distance from LCBR.

For sure, you should purchase duty free liquor in GC Airport on the way back. Prices much better than US.

The duty frees at GC airport will not sell you liquor if you are going to the Sister islands. Usually, they will ask to see your boarding pass. I'm not saying that transport from airport duty free to the Sisters can't be done, but IMO it is hardly worth the effort.
